Hi guys, I know it has been a month since I posted. Sorry to keep you guys waiting, here is my explanation for the long delay. As some of you may know, I live in upstate South Carolina, which was right in the path of Tropical Storm Helene after it passed through Georgia on the way to Western North Carolina (WNC). The day I was planning to post this video was right when the storm hit us and we lost power in our house!

After that it was 3 days without power. You can imagine what we went through especially when we have three little ones in the house to take care of. Praise God we had running water (and we were able to flush toilets!). We also had enough essentials, bottled drinking water, TP, batteries, flash lights, non-perishable food, etc. We were not totally prepared but more ready for the storm than most people, because no one expected the storm to increase in intensity as it made its way here from Florida.

Anyways, in the aftermath of Helene we had no power (and no internet). After the power came back our children still didn’t have school. Many other people in our region didn’t have power for over a week! In fact, school was closed for 8 days (excluding weekends) and so it totally messed up our regular schedule. As you can imagine, I didn’t have time to post at all during this period.

As our lives gradually returned to normal, we found out about the flooding crisis in WNC, which is less than 2 hours from here. It was heart-wrenching for us to watch these videos of the devastation online, as we have been to some of these places in the past year, towns that were utterly destroyed by the flash floods. Emotionally I was broken and grieving, and finally this week I started to come out of that. I definitely experienced “survivor’s guilt.”

If you want to give towards to the recovery efforts, I recommend Samaritan’s Purse as a good organization to donate funds. They are very good at what they do.

Coming back to the topic of Electric Violin Worship, here I have posted a video of my first worship practice when I was in the Philippines on my short-term mission trip this past August/September. I was severely jetlagged in the video, but you can’t really tell. One thing I love about worship practice is that you don’t have to play perfectly and you are free to make mistakes, and you have permission to try out new musical ideas as you play. I hope you enjoy this short video of us practicing Holy Forever.

The anointed worship leader playing the keyboard and singing is my new friend Roli.

Blessings
